Robin died unexpectedly, and with no warning, except for a headache, of a brain aneurysm. At the time of her death she was working at the Medical University Of South Carolina, as a medical technologist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery. There is a plaque hanging there in her name which reads,"In Loving Memory of Robin Walker Bates, Devotion and Excellence, 1980." Robin was the director of the specialized lab, designed to provide very rapid biochemical test results from the small quantities of blood that can be taken from low weight newborns. Her death brought feelings of intense personal and professional loss to all those who worked with her. She has been called a "pacesetter" in her profession.

Robin was a true soulmate of mine. I tear up even to this day seeing her name here. She will remain in my heart forever. Thank you to whoever included her in our classmates list. I wish my time with her had been longer. Anne Lowe

Robin Bates was one of my best friends at Jordan. We always had so much fun at her huge PA home. She had a home surrounding a wonderful courtyard, filled with beautiful flowers. Her mother was an artist with a studio in their home. When I would go to visit Robin, I was in total awe of her mother's art studio.
Robin was such a nice girl. I remember how kind she was.

We had our 45th reunion in the home you lived in before you moved away. What a crazy full circle, dear friend.

I have many happy memories of being with Robin in her home with her family. So amazing to end up back there for our reunion. Thank you Cindy, for sharing your family's beautiful home. I felt Robin's presence there too, with the rest of us.
