Karen C. Hentzell (Savitzky)

Karen C. Hentzell (Savitzky)

From Jeanne DeVrie Viau: I recently came across the news of the death of former classmate Karen Hentzell. I did not know her in high school, but I did connect with her many years ago. Her daughter was a student in my third grade class in San Jose. As an adult Karen went by her middle name Colleen. She is survived by husband Stephen Savitzky and two adult daughters. They lived in the Seattle area. There was no published obituary. She had dealt with many heath issues over the years. She died July 12, 2021.

I remember Karen. She always had a shy smile when we were in classes together. I remember her clothing and courage to be herself.

Sarah, your comment about her clothiing and courage continued on as an adult. Our staff always looked forward to seeing her on Halloween. She was always happy, friendly, and very eccentric.

I remember being happy to see her at one of our first reunions .She came dressed in medieval clothing and told me that she belonged to an organization called "The Society for Creative Anachronism". She seemed so happy to have found her people.
