Richard Laird Brekne

Since Paly some of the highlights of my years include being on the primary recovery helicopter for the last Sky-lab mission, Going to both Hamamatsu Japan and Hamburg Germany for Concert Piano Technician Acadamy training, Travels to Greece, Rome, Paris, Japan, Switzerland, a coast to coast US Trip in 2008, and working for some of the worlds greatest jazz and classical pianists. Am now principal concert piano technician for the Bergen Philharmonic Symphony, Troldhaugen (Edvard Grieg Museum) Bergen International Festival http://www.fib.no , Nattjazz http://www.nattjazz.no and for the Grieg Academy for Music at the University of Bergen.

Mostly piano related stuff, but did a year at Montana colleges and finished what roughly equates to an associates degree at the University of Bergen... had ideas of getting into math and computer programming for a while there but ended up loving my work with pianos too much.

Loved being in the Madrigals and participating in some of the productions of the drama department, and will be eternally grateful for Gayle White and her family for letting me stay with them all that year.

Funniest school story from Paly High.... almost dropping Liesel during our "You are sixteen going on seventeen" scene, The Sound of Music at Paly in 1970

Most embarrassing.... serving Duke Ellington coffee and cakes at the White home without knowing who it was.... :)

Most fun.... an afternoon at one of the nude beaches north of Santa Cruz with a few classmates :):)
