As life would have it, I'm in a wheelchair now. I'm an R.N. I got dizzy on the unit I was working and decided to walk down to the ER. That was big mistake. I was admitted. I gave my history to a flunky LVN who didn't know what I was talking about. I asked to see the doc in charge and was told she "was too busy." My BP was abnormally high. This was reported to the doc who was to busy to see me. The doc wrote an order for an injectable drug which I received. About 5 minutes after I knew something was wrong. I passed out. I was transferred to the ICU and then transferred to another hospital, etc. The drug had caused me to have a cerebral vascular accident- a stroke. I has has been four years of hell. I learned how to stand up and balance myself and try and try again to walk. The result is I can walk with a walking stick about five feet. Neurologist who was assigned to me said he couldn't believe I was still alive let alone I could talk, and walk five feet. What have I learned from my experience? Never give in, never give up and fight.
